Welcome to Garden Kids International School community! I am very proud to say that I have been a member of this school for many years. It is the greatest feeling to be Principal of this wonderful institution; not only to accomplish an academic goal, but to be able to change the lives of our students by following our mission and vision.
The GKIS academic program is rigorous! Our core subjects of ELA, (reading, writing, speaking and listening), Math, Science, and Social Studies, are all integrated with today’s technology. Providing a balanced approach to learning and growing we also integrate Art, Music and Physical Education into our program.
One indication of the success of our English Academic Program is found in the results of the United State standardized testing where our students place at a high level. With regard to the Dominican curriculum, our students consistently perform at high levels receiving recognition letters from the Dominican Republic Ministry of Education.
Garden Kids International School Technology Program is ever expanding. The incorporation and use of technological tools and programs is a constant focus of our teachers’ lesson plans and activities. Our goal is to assist our students be collaborative, creative, and critical thinkers for life with the 21st Century skills. The students use laptops and I pads as a resource throughout the day. Our technology classes take place in our Technology Lab, a reminder that technology is a part of our everyday curriculum. Our classrooms are equipped with projectors, speakers, smart boards (high school) and digital platforms in order to enrich the teaching-learning process.
GKIS has a virtual school which is designed for students that, for some reason, cannot be in a regular classroom setting. The children receive online classes, using an internet program with teacher support. We are proud to have this program and a separate Virtual Classroom only for our kids in the Virtual Program where they have personal instruction with a teacher who is designated just for them.
Our faculty and staff are faith-filled, dedicated and credentialed. Our teachers regularly attend workshops and graduate level classes in order to remain current with trends in teaching and learning.
